✅ BOIL WATER ADVISORY LIFTED

The City of Dublin's Boil Water Advisory has been officially lifted.

Water quality testing has confirmed that the water system meets all safety standards, and residents and businesses may now resume normal water use. Boiling water is no longer necessary for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, making ice, or any other household use.  You may experience a stronger than normal level of chlorine for a period of time.  We will continue flushing the system in the days to come with open fire hydrants, so if you see that, it is okay.

We appreciate the patience and cooperation of our residents, businesses, schools, and visitors during this precautionary advisory. We also extend our sincere thanks to our utility crews, who worked tirelessly to repair the water main break and restore service safely.

Thank you for helping us keep our community safe.

Update from Previous Release:

Notice of Significant Water Leak:
At approximately 8:00 PM on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, the city discovered a significant water leak on Joiner Street near its intersection with Marcus Street.  Because of the nature of the leak, water production was terminated so that city forces could make the necessary repairs.  As of the time of this release, the repairs have been completed.  Over the next few hours, as water pressure builds back in our system, you will have water pressure restored.  It is imperative that you understand and comply with the boil water advisory as indicated below.

The process to remove the boil water advisory will take at a minimum 24-hours from the time pressure is fully restored to the system.  We are anticipating pressure being fully restored within the next few hours.  Once we have clear test results after the 24-hour period has passed, we will provide notice that the boil water advisory has been lifted.  If we do not have clear results at that time, additional testing will be required to lift the advisory.  Until that time, please comply with the boil water advisory.

Upon the restoration of services water utility customers experiencing cloudy or otherwise dirty appearing water should run their water until it runs clear.

Notice of Significant Water Leak:
At approximately 8:00 PM on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, the city discovered a significant water leak on Joiner Street near its intersection with Marcus Street. Because of the nature of the leak, water production was terminated to allow city forces to make the necessary repairs. As of the time of this release, the repairs are ongoing. We expect that residents and customers of the city’s water utility will experience diminished or no water supply.

Once the repairs are completed, water production will resume at our water plants, and customers can expect service to be restored. The anticipated timeline for the restoration of services is unknown at this time and will be updated as soon as possible. Upon the restoration of services, water utility customers experiencing cloudy or otherwise dirty-appearing water should run their water until it runs clear.

Please also see the boil water advisory below.

BOIL WATER ADVISORY:
The City of Dublin, Georgia Water System is issuing this advisory due to a significant water leak of a 16” water main, the required termination of water production in order to repair said leak, and the loss of pressure in the system which may be disrupting your water supply or causing water pressure in parts of the water system to drop to very low levels. The advisory is being issued out of an abundance of caution – there is the potential a health hazard may exist due to microbial contamination in these areas without positive pressure.
In order to protect the public from a potential health hazard, customers that have experienced water outages and/or low water pressures are advised to use only boiled tap water or bottled water for drinking, cooking, or preparing food. To properly boil water for use, customers should:
• Heat water until bubbles come quickly from the bottom of the container;
• Continue heating the water for one minute once it begins to boil;
• Remove the water from the heat source and allow to cool before use.
During a Boil Water Advisory, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommends that boiled tap water or bottled water be used for the following:
• Drinking
• Brushing Teeth
• Washing food and preparing food and baby formula
• Making ice
• Drinking water for pets
Other activities such as cloth washing, dish washing, and other uses can be done without boiling tap water, if done properly. The complete CDC guidance can be found at this website: https://www.cdc.gov/healthywater/emergency/drinking/drinking-water-advisories/boil-water-advisory.html
