On Tuesday, February 24th, Council Member At-Large, Tess Godfrey, and City Manager, Josh Powell attended Planning Day at the Capitol where the City of Dublin was awarded the coveted "Plan First" designation by the Georgia Department of Community Affairs for the city's efforts in comprehensive planning and the successful implementation of projects listed in the comprehensive plan.  Projects that were highlighted were the acquisition and eradication of blighted properties in partnership with our Land Bank Authority, the improvements and investment in the historically significant Emery Thomas Auditorium and Oconee Gymnasium, and the implementation of pedestrian safety projects, such as Project Slow Zone and the Madison Street Redevelopment Project that focused on making our downtown a safer place to walk.  "Careful planning is critical to the success of any project.  I'm grateful to our Mayor and Council for supporting our planning efforts to ensure we can deliver for our community."  Said City Manager, Josh Powell.

While at the Capitol, Councilmember Godfrey and City Manager Powell met with Representative Matt Hatchett to discuss priorities for the City and discussed state funding for potential projects and ways to provide relief to homeowners in the community through tax relief.
