Bennie Jones of Dublin Elected as 1st Vice President of GMA’s District Nine
ATLANTA – Bennie Jones, Councilmember of the City of Dublin, has been elected as 1st Vice President of the Georgia Municipal Association’s (GMA) District Nine for the 2025–2026 term.
Jones was officially sworn in during GMA’s Annual Convention held in Savannah from June 20-24.
“We are honored to have Chairman Jones serve in this leadership capacity,” said Larry Hanson, CEO and Executive Director of GMA. “He brings a wealth of experience, dedication, and insight that will benefit the municipalities of District Nine and the entire GMA organization.”
As District Nine 1st Vice President, Jones will serve as a liaison between GMA and local municipal officials in the district. Responsibilities include assisting in the implementation of GMA policies, advocating on behalf of cities, and supporting efforts to strengthen local governance through training and networking.
District Nine stretches across east central Georgia into the lower coastal plain for cities in the following counties: Appling, Bleckley, Candler, Dodge, Emanuel, Evans, Jeff Davis, Johnson, Laurens, Montgomery, Tattnall, Telfair, Toombs, Treutlen, Wayne, Wheeler, Wilcox, and Toombs.
The 66-member board consists of active city officials, primarily mayors and councilmembers, from across the state. Seats are also designated for the presidents of the Georgia City-County Management Association, the Georgia Municipal Clerks Association, and the GMA City Attorneys Sections, as well as the chair of the Georgia Municipal Employees Benefit System Board of Trustees.
