Coca-Cola Bottling Company UNITED to Donate Building to City of Dublin
Dublin, Georgia – Coca-Cola Bottling Company United, Inc. (UNITED), consolidated their Dublin operations into its McRae and Milledgeville sales centers on August 9, 2021. All 24 Dublin-based associates were offered roles out of the McRae and Milledgeville locations. The Dublin building, owned by UNITED, will be donated to the City of Dublin on October 13, 2021, at 12:30 pm.
“Consolidating the Dublin operations into our nearby facilities in McRae and Milledgeville allowed us to achieve greater operational effectiveness,” said Jack Sherman Division Director for Coca-Cola Bottling Company UNITED’s Savannah River Division. “Our customers were not impacted by the closing of our Dublin facility as our associates continue to serve the community with the same high standards. For those who work remotely to serve our Dublin customers, the realignment had little impact on their daily routines. Our commitment to the Dublin community and our customers here does not change.”
Coca-Cola UNITED acquired the Dublin, Georgia, sales center and warehouse in 2017, as part of a multi-year series of acquisitions throughout the Southeast. The company has had a sales center in McRae since 1986 and in Milledgeville since 2000. These facility locations are in close proximity to serve customers and nearby markets. Following significant growth over the past four years, Coca-Cola UNITED has continued to optimize its operations to assure the company is efficiently serving its customers and the Dublin consolidation was part of this effort.
“We are, of course, disappointed that Coca-Cola no longer has a facility in Dublin; however, we know they will remain committed to the community. We appreciate the donation of the building to the City of Dublin,” said City Manager Lance Jones. “We have yet to determine how the property will be used but have several options.”
Privately held and family-owned, Coca-Cola Bottling Company United, Inc., was founded in 1902. Headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama, it is the second largest privately held Coca-Cola bottler in North America and the third largest bottler of Coca-Cola products in the U.S. Now with its fifth generation of family working in the business, Coca-Cola UNITED has approximately 10,000 associates located in more than 60 facilities across six southeastern states (Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Tennessee).
