Council Member
Julie Driger

Ward(I)
Julie Driger was elected in 1988, to the Ward 1 council
seat. Since her election, she has chaired the Education Committee and the Environment &
Utilities Committee. She was recently elected as the Georgia Municipal Association Thirteenth
District Second Vice President. In July, 1994, Julie was instrumental in obtaining a grant
to sponsor a S.O.A.R. (Southside Outreach And Readiness) program for at risk youth. In
January, 1996, she implemented procedures for establishing a Teen Court program in Dublin-Laurens
County. This program became a pilot program for the state in July, 1997. Julie is a former public
school teacher. She is presently employed as a claims examiner/employment counselor for the
Georgia Department of Labor. She is a member of the First African Baptist Church. She has one son,
a daughter-in-law and a granddaughter.
Julie loves working with youth, getting them involved in the
community positively. She believes an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
