From the Mayor
Making history together
Welcome to Dublin, Georgia!
On July 1, 2021, I was appointed interim Mayor of the City of Dublin by City Council. Together, Council and I made history as I am Dublin's first African American mayor and Dublin's first female mayor. As a former educator, I value history and more importantly, dreams. I am honored to serve the Dublin community where dreams begin and history is made. As a former aide to King during the Civil Rights Movement in St. Augustine, FL, I want to encourage each of you to dream big, work together, and speak up. History is made each and every day.
Did you know that on April 17, 1944, fifteen year old Martin Luther King, Jr. gave his first public speech at the church I attend: First African Baptist Church. Our congregation and our community united to celebrate Dr. King's speech, and today you can experience a bit of King's journey to the mountaintop at Martin Luther King, Jr. Monument Park and at First African Baptist Church.
My greatest hope is that we each love one another, respect each other, and be mindful of Who is in charge.
